History

Our club history

Cronton & District Gun Club was established in 1958 by a group of like minded gentlemen

After having a meeting in the local pub they gained the support of a farmer at Cronton near Widnes. Over the years the club has always had mixture of members  ranging   from  all walks of life but the one interest they all shared was in the sport of clay pigeon shooting.

The club ethos is friendliness with a warm welcome as one member put it

‘Cronton isn’t a gun club it’s a social club that shoots’

The club was given notice to vacate the land in June 2017 by the current land owner and we had  to  find a new suitable location. Unfortunately we were unable to find anything in the Widnes or Cronton area

We are  now based at Ince lane, Wimbolds Trafford Chester

which we hope will become our new home for many years with the support of the current land owner. The disciplines we are aiming to have are DTL/ABT, Sporting and a Skeet layout which we enjoyed at Cronton. This will be achieved by the active participation and hard work of the members calling on their skills to take the club in to the future.

The club  has a serious side. We meet every Sunday except for Armistice Day and shoot for different club trophies throughout the year. We  also compete against other local clay pigeon shooting  clubs in friendly competitions.
